Project Timeline

It took 5 weeks to make this unique, trendy, and user-friendly design.
Here is the time schedule from the scratch to end.

User Research

I used interview method for this research and created empathy map to understand what they really need. This user group is usually quite busy with work, so the time, to cook at home is limited. They want to order food online easily and quickly, but finding the right food seems to be a challenge for them. Factors such as time, food preferences, ingredients availability, diets and cooking skills are issues they face.

User Persona

To frame the project and create a user-friendly design the needs of the target audience should be studied.

Problem Statement

Sarah is a busy accountant & mother who needs to order food online because she doesn’t have time to cook.

Problem Statement

John is a student who needs to take away the food by ordering online because he doesn’t have good restaurants nearby his home.

User Journey Map

User Flow

A user flow is the path taken by a typical user on an app or a website, so they can complete a task from start to finish. It explains how effectively can the users move through the app overall.

Usability Study

I conducted two rounds of usability studies. Findings from the first study helped guide the designs from wireframes to mockups. The second study used a high-fidelity prototype and revealed what aspects of the mockup needed refining.

Digital Wireframes

These digital wireframes are designed after gathering the datas from 2 rounds of usability study. Hence it doesn’t require any further changes.

Typography

I used Poppins font to make the typograghy easy to read for all users.
It is the perfect font to be used in mobile app.

Color Palette

Home Screen

This is the first screen of this app where users will able to see all the meal categories that they can order easliy and also a user-friendly navigation which will help them to explore all the other pages.

Visual Design

Once the functions and features of the app are decided, I moved on the visual design. To match the theme of the brand, I kept the design simple and visually appealing. My focus was to add all the necessary features in a way that is easy to use and distinguishable.

To enhance how New Zealanders discover and enjoy street food, I designed a seamless, intuitive mobile experience for NZ Food Truck. The solution addresses key user needs — from effortless food discovery and personalized meal customization to real-time order tracking and flexible delivery or pickup options. By focusing on convenience, transparency, and user delight, this app transforms the traditional street food journey into a smarter, faster, and more satisfying experience.
